How it works
Every time you click Start Capture, Earmark begins a session that lasts two hours (120 minutes). This session activates Earmark’s auto-capture features, pairing your live meeting conversation with the platform’s intelligence layer to transcribe and generate artifacts. The two-hour window exists to maintain optimal transcription quality and keep file sizes and storage manageable. What happens when the limit is reached
When a session hits the two-hour mark:- You receive a notification that the session has ended.
- Transcription pauses automatically.
- Processing of the meeting artifact begins.
Extending a capture session
If your meeting runs longer than two hours, click Start Capture again in the same session window. This resumes transcription immediately — no new meeting or window required. The transcript continues from where it left off, producing a continuous log through the backend. The system tracks this as two segments for performance purposes.Best practices
- Keep meetings under two hours for the best AI summary performance.
- Forgot to restart? Click Start Capture as soon as you notice. There may be a gap in the transcription during the downtime, but all previous content is preserved.
- Extra-long meetings — restart capture at each two-hour boundary to maintain continuous coverage.
